Medela's Calma device was designed as an alternative to the breast for mothers who wish to give their breast milk to their baby. It was developed in collaboration with breastfeeding experts from the Human Lactation Research Group led by Professor Hartmann, of the University of Western Australia. Calma allows your baby to suck, swallow and breathe at their natural pace:
- they can drink, pause and breathe at their natural rhythm while remaining relaxed and serene;
- your baby must create a vacuum for the milk to start flowing;
- your baby maintains their natural sucking behavior.
