EMA The European Medicines Agency recognizes the traditional use of Harpagophytum "to relieve minor joint pain, as well as bloating, flatulence, and temporary loss of appetite." The Agency recommends a maximum treatment duration of four weeks (for joint pain) or two weeks (for digestive disorders). … Commission E The German Ministry of Health's Commission E acknowledges the traditional use of Harpagophytum in "loss of appetite, digestive disorders, and as an adjunctive treatment for degenerative diseases of the musculoskeletal system." … ESCOP The European Scientific Cooperative on Phytotherapy recognizes the traditional use of harpagophyton in "the symptomatic treatment of painful osteoarthritis, low back pain, loss of appetite, and digestive disorders." It recommends a treatment of at least two to three months to feel a beneficial effect on painful joints.
