Cattier superfine white clay, extracted in the south of England, has been rigorously selected for its unrivalled quality. It is traditionally used in masks or poultices. It is processed using mechanical processes (crushing, grinding) and thermal processes (drying in the sun or in an oven, autoclave, etc.). It undergoes no chemical treatment and a rigorous check is carried out on each batch of clay (colour, appearance, particle size, microbiology, etc.).
Clay is an earth, resulting from the metamorphosis of a rock, naturally rich in mineral salts. It is found in more or less important deposits, mostly exploited in open pits. A truly living substance endowed with natural intelligence, clay is distinguished by its properties ofabsorption,adsorption, which allow it toexchange absorbed impurities and toxins for minerals.
Instructions for use
Preparation of the clay paste: Pour the desired amount of white clay into a glass or wooden container. Add a volume of spring water to completely immerse the clay. Leave to rest for about half an hour, then stir with a non-metallic spatula to obtain a smooth paste.
As a beauty mask: Apply a thick layer to the face and neck, avoiding the eye and lip contour, or to the scalp. Leave on for about 10 minutes, without letting the mask dry. Rinse with warm water and dry.
As a hair mask: Apply a thick layer to the roots of the hair. Leave on for about 10 minutes, without letting the mask dry. Rinse with warm water and apply a shampoo. Ideal for oily hair.
As a poultice: Place the paste on a natural textile. Spread the clay with a non-metallic spatula to a thickness of 1 cm. Apply the poultice, leaving the clay in direct contact with the skin, and secure it (without overtightening) with a bandage. Leave the poultice on for one hour. To remove it, remove as much clay as possible, moistening if necessary, then rinse and dry the skin.
As clay water (facial lotion, for example): Pour one to two teaspoons of white clay into a glass and add spring water. Mix with a non-metallic spatula. Wait for the clay to settle at the bottom and only use the clay water.
Heavy metals in clays
All clays contain heavy metals, but they are present in very small quantities. These traces are considered technically unavoidable and are given particular attention at Cattier.
In order to control the presence of these unavoidable traces of heavy metals in our clays, we carry out a rigorous selection of our clays and ask our suppliers to respect very strict standards. Assays on the different batches of clay are carried out by an independent laboratory certified GMP ISO 22716. The results obtained are analysed by our Quality Control department to ensure compliance with current international regulations which define the maximum concentrations not to be exceeded in cosmetic products. We always apply lower limits than those defined by the regulations.
